Snowy Day & Challenge Card

Happy Thursday!  One day till Friday!  So it snowed here in Delaware for about a day in a half and finally stopped about 4:30 this morning.  We got about 10 inches and are expecting some small snows tomorrow night and Saturday.  I didn't venture out yesterday and decided not to for today so I was able to craft all day yesterday and I'm crafting today again.

I love Create a Critter cricut cartridge. When this weeks' Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge hosted by Meriah at Two Scraptastic Gals and Paula at More Than Favors came up with that cart, I was super excited.  I had made one card in the beginning and decided that I didn't like it so I ended up with another card.  I hope you like them.
This was the card that I just wasn't feeling.  I think it's the yellowy color (is that even a word lol).
Recipe for card:
Card base is from Birthday Bash cricut cartridge
Koala and sentiment is from Create A Critter cricut cartridge
Paper is from my stash but is Recollections
White gel pen
Black Momento marker
Star Dust stickles
Ribbon is from my stash as well but I remember buying it from Michaels

I feel a bit better about this card
Paper came from DCWV Nursery Baby Boy Pack
Star Dust stickles
Petaloo Color Me Crazy
Bells of Ireland Green Starburst Spray from Lindy Stamp Gang
Ribbon was the same from previous card, from my stash but bought at Michaels

Both cards will actually be put to good use for Valentine's Day.  I hope everyone is enjoying their day.

More Than Favors Challenge

Happy Monday.  I hope everyone had a great day.  Paula at More Than Favors had put out a challenge to create a gift card holder.  I got inspired by this because these are something that can be made and put away for when the time calls for it.  I made them simple.  I won't know what occasion to use them for until the time comes.  Sorry for the lack of picture quality, bad lighting.  Enjoy!
Recipe:
Paper came from DCWV Citrus Pack and Coordinating Paper Pack
Flower came from Petaloo Color Me Crazy
VersaMark Ink Pad
A La Mode Clear Embossing Powder
Twinkle Toes Cricut Lite Cartridge
I wanted to take an up close picture of the embossing technique.  I picked up the technique on YouTube.

This is the inside of the card.  Again, I kept it simple as I don't know what I plan on using it for yet.

I will draw the winners later on tonight for the Valentine's Day Card Blog Hop that took place over the weekend.

Have a great evening.

Cards, Diaper Bundle and Blog Hop This Weekend!!

Hey everyone, Nikki here.  I hope it's been a great week for you all.  I've been MIA for the last couple of days.  My grandmother had a stroke over the weekend so it's been kinda crazy.  She's doing much better and hopefully she can get out of the hospital soon.  Trying to explain to an 80 year old woman that she is not invincible is not easy.  I managed to make a card for her and wanted to share.  Enjoy!

Recipe:
Paper is from DCWV Linen Closet
Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap
Marvy Matchables LePlumeII Markers
Digi Stamp is Pure Innocence and I got it from an Esty store (digistampcharacters is the name on Etsy).  The image can also be found at My Favorite Things as a clear mini stamp set.
Boarder punch is from EK Success
Sakura Glaze
Bling came from Recollections

You ever get that feeling that you have no crafting mojo?  I got that a couple of days ago and decided to step back for a few days to do some much needed relaxing and visiting my grandmother.  I'm recharged and excited for more of my creative journey.

My mom has a baby shower over the weekend and needed some things done.  I make diaper and towel cakes on the side so I was happy to mix it up a bit.

Recipe for card:

Pattern Paper came from DCWV Nursery Baby Girl
Solid Paper and Bling came from Recollections
Ribbon came from Michaels
Brads came from a RAK (I just love RAKs)

Marvy Matchables LePlumeII Markers
Sakura Glaze

Bundle Contents:
Diapers
Receiving Blanket
Onsies
Pacifiers
Washcloths
Everything is newborn so in essence you can take it to the hospital as a gift for the new arrival.

I'm still getting into the whole digital aspect of crafting.  I'm getting ready to start my copic marker collection and I can't wait.  For now I've been using Marvy Matchables LePlumeII Markers and I think they color very nicely.  I made a thank you card with a digi that I had gotten a bit ago.

Pattern paper came from DCWV Citrus and the solid paper came from the Citrus coordinating pack

I also wanted to let everyone that I will be taking part in a blog hop over the weekend hosted by Ellen at Card Monkey.  Blog candy will be offered so stop by over the weekend and hop with some talented ladies for inspiring Valentines' ideas.

I hope everyone enjoys their Friday and I hope you check back over the weekend for the Valentine's Day Card Blog Hop.

Have a good night everyone!

Challenge Card, Vinyl Work and Announcement!

I have been so busy all week that I don't think I've posted something in a few days.  So I'm sure everybody knows, but if not; Michaels is having a clearance on cricut cartridges for $9.99.  Not all of them are clearance so you'd have to check your local Michaels.  I have 3 in Delaware and my state is pretty small so I can get to all 3 stores within 45 minutes (one is 20 mins north, the second is 45 mins south and the other is about 10 mins away).  I managed to pick up Paper Doll Dress Up, Sweethearts, Tinkerbell and Pagoda.

Mojo Monday is a challenge blog with a sketch every Monday.  I'm so late posting this but wanted to share my card.  I wanted to get a jump on my Valentine cards so I thought this was a perfect opportunity.  Enjoy!

Recipe:
Pattern Paper-K & Company KP Valentine
Solid Paper-Recollections
Stamps-Craft Smart (both the sentiments and flower stamp were from Michaels and are $1, they are selling a bunch of them).  The hearts on the red cardstock was used from a Fiskars stamp set and it doesn't give me a name.
Ink-Ranger Tim Holtz Fired Brick & Worn Lipstick (both are distress inks).  Color Box Frost White.
Pens/Markers-Marvy Gel Excel in White.  Momento Dual Markers in Tuxedo Black, Rose Bud, Angel Pink, London Fog.  Sakura Glaze in Red and Clear (sorry, they don't have exact names for those two).  Sakura Gelly Roll in Clear Star.
Brads-from a RAK I did a few weeks ago (I love RAKs, anybody interested in doing one with me let me know)

The red paper with the white hearts was just a plain piece of red cardstock but I used the Frost White and a stamp from the Fiskars set to give it a little something.  I used the white gel pen and clear star to give it a little more shape.

I love my cricut.  I forget sometimes how versatile the machine really is.  My dad owns a catering business and needed my help (another reason why I haven't been on in a few days).  Never realized I'd be helping my dad with things for his business with my cricut.

I used white vinyl and the lettering is from Songbird welded together by my gypsy.  These spoons take a beating and they have held together so nicely, I haven't had to make new ones yet and it's going on about 4 months now.

For the coffee pots.....wording was from Songbird again welded together by my gypsy.  The shapes are from Once Upon A Princess.  These were not holding up so well so I laminated them with my laminator.  The hot water actually has to be done again as you can see in the picture it was losing it's stickyness to the pot.

I also wanted to announce that I have been selected for my first design team.  GAB Challenges is a new challenge blog with a new challenge every Saturday.  Right now until the 12th, blog candy is being given away so stop over to the blog and meet the rest of the ladies.

Happy Sunday and I hope everyone enjoys their week.

Flaunt It Fridays From My Kitchen

Hey everyone, Nikki here.  I love altering things so when the challenge for Flaunt It Fridays with the martini glass From My Kitchen came up I knew immediately what I was doing.  One of my best friends lives up in NYC and my other bestie lives in Philadelphia so I take the train from Wilmington, Delaware and meet my Philadelphia bestie to take the train to NYC.  When I think of the martini glass I thought of my picture when I was up in NYC for a girls weekend which I had a martini glass in my hand.  Enjoy!!
Wooden frame was from Michaels.  I painted it with My Studio pink.  I used Forever Young, Plantin Schoolbook, Rock Princess and of course From My Kitchen.  I cut out the middle of the martini glass and put Martha Stewart Iridescent Glitter Sour Apple.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Rosette Flower Tutorial & A Card

This is a little late at night but I wanted to get this posted.  Many people during the hop over the weekend asked me about the rosette flower I had put on Fridays' card.  I wanted to show my take on the flower in hopes that I can inspire.  There are many videos on You Tube that show you how to make these cool embellishments.

Materials Needed:
1.) 9 X 1 piece of cardstock (the size will depend on how big or small you want the flower.  The flower that is shown on my card from Friday was cut 12 X 1)
2.) Adhesive (I'm using sticky strip, check out Confessions of A Ribbon Addict for adhesive)
3.) Something to score the paper ( I'm using Martha Stewart score board)
4.) Boarder punch is optional as well as any type of bling

When you have your paper cut you are going to take your scoring of choice and score every quarter of an inch (shown in the picture)
If you wanted a boarder on the flower, you would want to do that now.  If not just continue on.  Fold at the score lines in an up and down fashion (best way I can explain is to fold the paper like you would to make a paper fan).  Pictures are shown below to get you started.

It should look like this when you are finished.

Put your adhesive of choice on the last two folded "petals".

From here you are going to take the the adhesive side and connect them to the last two on the other end to leave you with a circle.

I'm sooo sorry I just realized in the pictures how dirty my score board is and how poor my finger nails look.

Now for the tricky part.  I prepare a circle and put glue on the circle and put it to the side for a moment.  You are going to push down in the middle of the flower keeping everything in tact (I'm not coordinated and the flower will pop up again again so that's why I say have a circle with glue ready or if you are going right to the paper put glue/adhesive on the paper before you continue making the flower.

Adhere whatever it is you like to the bottom.  I make the flowers for people and put them in packaging so I use the glue dots I get from Confessions Of A Ribbon Addict along with hot glue.  For the tutorial I kept with the paper circle with glue.

.
Same thing for top as you did for the bottom, adhere whatever you like ( you really need the flower to stay together).  For the tutorial I did a pop dot with a paper circle but when you see my card, I put bling in the middle.

Pretty it up and you are finished.

They are very simple to make and possibilities are endless.  I made a card using some rosette flowers as a hello to all of my friends who visit my blog.  Enjoy!!

The snail came from cricut cartridge Birthday Bash and the grass came from Plantin Schoolbook.  Paper came from a multi color pack from Recollections.  Bling came from a RAK a few months ago.  I used a white pen to highlight the envelope and sentiment.  I used a boarder punch from EK Success to make the flowers.  Sentiment came from Inkadinkado Gem Stone Alphabet.  I also used Gelly Roll pens for the cheeks and antenna.
One of my New Year's resolutions was to try new things.  It was my first time quilling and I enjoyed adding something different to my card.  I'm going to continue trying my hand at that.

This was my first tutorial and I hope it makes sense.  I would love some feedback on it.

Hope everyone is enjoying their week!!

Projects....What I Was Up To Over The Weekend!!

Hey everyone, Nikki again.  This is my second post today and there will be one more following this one.  I wanted to share with everyone what I was up to over the weekend while the hop was going on.  Enjoy!

I altered a composition notebook and created a post it note holder for my cousin.  Paper is DCWV Amber Autumn. Boarder punch was EK Success.  I used cricut cartridge Tie The Knot on the notebook and Storybook on the holder.  Tattered Angels Sugar Plum Fairy glimmer mist matched almost perfectly to the paper and the white and goldish yellow paper came from a Recollections pack.

This was such a quick project and I did it so quickly that I have no idea how it turned out so good.  Saturday I was able to spend time with my family at my aunt and uncle's open house.  My cousin loves to craft, she takes after her cousin lol.  We decided to do a RAK and I know she wanted to raid half of my stash so I decided to let some of my craft stuff go, I have so much stuff that I cleaned house so I can buy more.
On the left I used a kraft gift bag I bought at the dollar store.  Covered it with paper and used a boarder punch from EK Success.  Butterflies and "create"  were cut from cricut cartridge Home Decor.  I used Sakura Glaze pen to create the dots and glimmer misted the butterflies in Mimosa.  I put some Stickles on the antennas to add some more bling.
On the right is a tin that I had from a present last Christmas.  Boarder punch is once again EK Success.  Bling is Recollections and the butterfly came from Prima.  Paper is from Recollections as well.  I put flowers that I haven't used in awhile into the tin and that was part of her gift.

So I guess I wasn't that busy over the weekend, I was happy enough to spend time with my family.

Stay tuned for the rosette tutorial coming up next.
